I'm trying to recall where I saw the link I followed that brought me here to Simi Live. (possibly in the online Ventura Co. Star ?)
How I got here isn't all that important to me, although it would be to the organizer of this site, the fact that I chose to join is. I thought about this because today I joined yet another social network that I received an invite to from family members.
I already have personal profiles in quite a few places online (in addtion to websites I maintain) and find it difficult to keep them all updated regularly. I have also received multiple invitations to various other sites I have not joined. Most of the sites I am a member of I joined for a specific purpose and in some cases have been a member of for years, for example finding High School classmates for a reunion or keeping in touch with family and friends from around the world. People tend to come and go within networks (seems everyone has to try out the latest great site) and it can be difficult to maintain those friendships as people move on. Yet here I am adding two new social profiles within a week. :)
So, what makes us choose to sign up on any given site and more importantly what keeps us coming back?
The obvious answer is the connections we have with current members or the new connections we make. Which of course happens in various ways and over time. A less obvious answer is the ease of use of a site and the features offered. So far Simi Live seems easy to use and I appreciate the lack of flashy graphics (some sites just give me a headache after a while).
I joined Simi Live to get to know more about the local area and the people here.
So, for this to work I should tell you a little more about me...
My name is Janis, my family moved to Simi Valley from northern California Nov 2000 and have no plans to go anywhere else, any time soon. My husband and I just celebrated our 23rd anniversary. We have two daughters; one a sophomore at CSUCI and one a Junior at SSHS. We also have 5 dachshunds (3 of them puppies) and 1 cat.
I am extremely fortunate to be a stay at home mom and give much of my time to volunteer activities. When I am not busy with volunteer duties I am busy keeping up with my family, home, yard and garden.
